Description: The Gladstone Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting a coed children’s T-ball league this summer. Scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Happy Rock Park. The T-ball league is for children 5 years of age to 2nd grade. The program will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Practice will be held on Tuesday evenings and games will be played on Thursday evenings. The season will last 9 weeks. Registration fee is $35.00 and includes a uniform T-shirt and ball cap for all participants to keep. Registration will begin April 3 and conclude May 12 or until leagues fill. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information call 436-2200.

Gladstone Night At The Royals

Join Gladstone Parks & Recreation for Gladstone Night at the Royals on Saturday, May 19, 2006 at 7:10 p.m. The Royals will be taking on interstate rival St. Louis Cardinals at the “K”. This game is sold out, so take advantage of purchasing tickets through the Gladstone Parks & Recreation office. Tickets are $17 for upper deck reserved seating. Must be purchased by April 28, 2006.

Spring Brush Disposal

The City of Gladstone’s annual spring brush disposal is scheduled for May 5th – 7th at Gladstone’s Public Works facility (4000 NE 76th Street) north of Happy Rock Park. Grass, leaves, brush and tree limbs will be accepted from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. General trash and debris will not be accepted. Leaves and grass clippings must be brought in paper bags or containers that can be emptied and removed. Proof of Gladstone residency is required. Walk N' Wag

On Saturday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. the Gladstone Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring the 6th annual “Walk N’ Wag”. This will be a one-mile fun walk with your dog and will be held at Happy Rock Park located at 76th and N. Antioch. Proceeds from this event will be given to the Gladstone Animal Control Shelter. All walkers will receive a T-shirt and the dogs will receive their own “doggie bag”. We hope to have a variety of demonstrations such as Frisbee catching and an obstacle course. Early registration fee is $15.00 per walker if received prior to April 7th. The registration fee after April 7th will be $18.00.

The City of Gladstone Parks & Recreation is offering Basic Dog
Obedience Classes and Canine Good Citizen/ Obstacle Training Classes.
Basic Class: Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Happy
Rock Park. This session will begins April 5, 2006. Class will be held
one time per week for 6 weeks. Fee is $75.00 Canine Good Citizen Class/
Obstacle Training: Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
Happy Rock Park. This session begins April 5, 2006. Class will be held
one time per week for 4 weeks. Fee is $60.00 Dogs must be 4 months of
age or older and have current rabies vaccination. Handlers must be 12

Gladstone Animal Control Rabies Clinic

On Saturday, April 1, 2006, from 12:30 to 2:30 Gladstone Animal Control will host a rabies clinic at the Kendallwood Animal Clinic. The Clinic is located at 2770 NE 60th Street. Dr. Randall Lary, of the Kendallwood Animal Clinic will donate his time to the event. Rabies vaccinations will only cost $12 (cash only). The clinic will be restricted to rabies vaccinations only and any other veterinary needs will be need to be handled either by appointment or by the animal's regular veterinarian. The clinic will be limited to rabies vaccinating of dogs only and animals that are ill or exhibiting aggressive or other behavioral issues will be asked to schedule an appointment at their regular veterinary office and will not be vaccinated the day of event. Gladstone Animal Control Officers will be present to issue city licenses for Gladstone residents. City licenses for dogs are $10 if spayed/neutered and $20 if they are intact.

Spring Adult Softbal League

The City of Gladstone is hosting a 9 week Spring Adult Softball League. Games will be played Sunday through Friday night at Happy Rock Park Softball Complex, located at 76th and North Antioch Road. Game times are 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m., and 9:30 beginning Sunday, April 16, 2006. A variety of Men’s, Women’s, and Coed leagues will be offered. Registration will be accepted from February 13 through March 31, 2006. Spring League Begin April 16 Single Games (9 games) $385.00 * Doubleheader Games (18 games) $670.00 * *ASA Fee $15.00 per year Entry Deadline March 31 or until leagues fill. The Parks & Recreation Department provides scorebooks, scorekeepers and one A.S.A. sanctioned umpire Registration will be accepted at Gladstone City Hall, 7010 N. Holmes. The City of Gladstone Annual Mayor’s Holiday Lighting Ceremony
Be a part of this year’s City Holiday Lighting Ceremony by joining Gladstone Mayor Wayne Beer and all former Gladstone mayors who will serve as “Honorary Chairmen” of this holiday tradition. This year’s activities will take place on Tuesday, November 23rd, at the First Bank of Missouri, 5959 NE Antioch Road. Festivities will begin at 6:00 PM with the sounds of four area choirs from NKC High School, Antioch Middle School, St Charles School, and Oakhill Day School. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by sleigh and be on hand to hear children’s request. Lara Moritz and Jim Flink, both anchors from Channel 9, will be the master of ceremonies. The annual holiday lighting event will serve as a visual symbol of Gladstone’s effort to assist those in need during the holiday season. Immediately following the ceremony, the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce will provide hot drinks and cookies. Proceeds to benefit the Northland Christmas Store and the Gladstone Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
